With major topics like carbon planning, wildfire risk management, and wildlife habitat conservation, it is more important than ever that we effectively communicate forest data and decision making to students, collaborators, and stakeholders with diverse specialties and backgrounds. Stand Designer offers simple, versatile tools for natural resources professionals, students, educators, landowners, regulators, and community members to share and understand forest conditions through immersive visualization.

InteractiveVisualization
If you have an interest in natural resources, it probably isn’t because you like staring at data tables. In our industry, we are all visual people. Forest visualization allows us to move from raw numbers and industry jargon to something that anyone can understand. When we visualize our data, we can interpret more data at once, we can interpret it faster, we can see trends more easily, and we can communicate with a larger audience. So, immerse yourself in forest data and see the forest for the trees.

Stand Designer:Ease of Use Meets Unparalleled Detail
With a company history spanning more than 30 years in California forestry, we know that you would rather be in the field. As a result, we’ve created a platform that combines ease of use with unparalleled attention to detail when looking at a forest from the ground-level perspective. To use Stand Designer, you select a four acre terrain to represent a slice from a larger landscape. Then, you can populate the terrain with trees, fill in the understory, and add special objects for scale, function, or aesthetics. You can choose to quickly import data and use pre-made templates or you can customize the scene to try and match a photo, your notes, or a detailed treatment plan.

Better research, Better Decisions
When you and your audience can picture every tree, shrub, rock, snag, or building—you’re better equipped to communicate a point or make informed decisions. Use detailed forest visualization to support specific talking points or create a compelling visual story.

Import
Bring your data to life with a few simple clicks. Just open Stand Designer, select a terrain or create one from location, and import your data. Our platform will populate your trees across the landscape, allowing you to take a walk without ever leaving your desk.
Quantify
Whether you import your stand tables or build a stand from scratch, Stand Designer will estimate tree volume and biomass using FIA equations. You can click on any individual tree to get its biometric data or view data summaries in tables and graphs.
Integrate
We have full integration with the American Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) and the Canadian Tree & Stand Simulator (TASS).

Simulate
Our most recent feature is the incorporation of fire. You can watch a fire spread over the landscape in real-time, engulfing trees and turning them into blackened snags.
Capture
Elevate any presentation with stunning, detailed visuals. Stand Designer includes tools to capture still images and videos at resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 pixels. Built-in tools also allow you to create elaborate video fly-throughs and utilize “offline rendering”, a technique which guarantees a smooth frame-rate on exported videos, even if they were recorded on a slow PC.
