1.2 Keyboard and Mouse Controls

Controlling the Menus

Escape: Opens and closes the Work Menu. Press escape to alternate between building your scene and exploring your scene. If you're trying to get back to the Welcome Screen for new, save, load, or exit, click the SD logo on the toolbar.

Spacebar: Opens and closes the Toolbar. When the toolbar is closed, you will be in an "immersive" mode of exploring the scene. You will see no mouse cursor or user interface. With the toolbar closed, you can freely look around the scene by moving the mouse. To see the mouse cursor again, press Spacebar to open the toolbar. With the toolbar open, you can still look around the scene-- just hold right click while moving the mouse.

Tab: Opens/closes just the left side of the work menu so that you can see a ground level perspective of the scene while placing objects/looking at inventory.

Controlling the Camera

There are two main camera modes that can be used to move around the scene*. Switch between them using the toolbar icons ( , ) or by pressing the C key.

Walk Mode : In this mode, the camera moves along the ground at eye-level, similar to walking.

Drone Mode : In this mode, the camera is not tied to the ground and can move freely in any direction without collisions. Additionally, it is possible to control drone mode using only the mouse.

Keystrokes for both camera modes

W: Move forwards

S: Move backwards

A: Move left

D: Move right

Right Click (Hold): Allows you to pan/rotate the camera while the toolbar is open

*In the toolbar, there are also buttons for an orthographic view () and a fixed position view (). These camera modes are static--no movement controls.

New Camera
